VitignoItalia is preparing to toast its first 15 years. From May 19th to 21th, in fact, the Italian Wine and Wine Exhibition will cross the finish line of the XV edition and for the occasion it will also celebrate the further growth of the brand, thanks to a new and tested company structure and an ever increasing participation by foreign operators and top companies. There will be 280 wineries, in particular that will animate the majestic Castel dell’Ovo in Naples, representing the best wine-making expressions on the national scene, with over 2,500 labels for tasting. To lead the scena is the Campania by a large delegation of companies from the Sannio Falanghina area, proclaimed European Wine City 2019. Inevitable are the tastings for the public, the rich program of events, including workshops and seminars, led by some of the most important exponents of the sector.

“The 2019 edition – explains Maurizio Teti, director of VitignoItalia – represents a historic milestone and above all a decisive escalation that we are experiencing in recent years. In fact, from edition to editionwe bring to Naples a growing number of producers, buyers, journalists and expertsboth from Italy and abroadThis demonstrates a winning format, able to keep up with the times to intercept the trends of the sector, the interests and tastes of the relevant public. A continuous evolutionthat joins a path that has always been oriented towards quality and the desire to enhance the best of Italian wine making. This year the business will be characterized by the presence of 35 qualified buyers arriving from 20 countries, including the USA, China, Russia, Hong Kong and Sweden, and 5 foreign journalistsselected and invited in collaboration with the ICE Agency “.

Numerous B2B meetings and walk around tastings are already planned for them within Castel dell’Ovo, to encourage direct exchange with producers in a perspective of targeted promotion in key markets for the export of Italian wineBut the incoming activity also looks at the “outside fair” with an educational tour that will touch all the five provinces of Campania and its most important production areasstarting from the two days preceding the event.

Instead, the final of the third edition of the Naples Wine Challenge” will take place on the opening day of VitignoItalia, May Sunday 19th, which will award the best wines in competition for each of the five categories provided (red, white, rosé, sparkling wines and sweets) . The first phase of the competition – organized in collaboration with Luciano Pignataro Wine Blog and Doctorwine and open to all companies participating at the festival – it will take place from 6th to 13th with the tasting of the four samples proposed by each of the participating wineriesIt will be a rigorously anonymous evaluation that will see a prestigious jury made up of expert journalists, sommeliers and national and international operatorscalled to select the 50 top references that will compete for the victory and will be awarded during a public session and streamed.

So, if VitignoItalia already reveals the first of the novelties for 2019, expanding the days spent in Naples by the delegation of foreign buyers and moving the final of the Naples Wine Challenge on the day of opening of the fair, it also confirms for the XV edition one of its strong points: the choice of the majestic Castel dell’Ovo as an exceptional theater, between land and seaEmblem of the city, this fortress is one of the most famous buildings of the Swabian-Norman era and the oldest castle in Naplesable to offer visitors a splendid view of the gulf and an unforgettable tasting experience.
