A tu per tu con Sauro Lucherelli, agronomo di Cantina Vicas, che ci ha fornito una disamina puntuale e precisa sull’andamento della stagione
Dopo un’annata difficile per tutto il comparto produttivo vinicolo italiano, le aziende del Belpaese sono pronte per ripartire ed affrontare al meglio la nuova stagione. In particolare, per ciò che riguarda i viticoltori che fanno capo alla Cantina Vicas, le premesse fanno ben sperare, come sottolineato dall’agronomo dell’azienda, Sauro Lucherelli: “Quest’anno, grazie alle piogge abbondanti di maggio, non ci saranno certamente problemi di siccità a Cantina Vicas. Le piante, infatti, si presentano in buono stato e c’è un gran rigoglio vegetativo che ha richiesto qualche intervento contenitivo. Da un punto di vista produttivo, per le zone di Pontassieve, Valdarno e dintorni, si può parlare di una resa discreta, anche se per le aree colpite lo scorso anno da afa e gelo, si nota una leggera riduzione delle dimensioni dei grappoli d’uva”.
Dimensioni degli acini a parte, la salute delle piante non desta preoccupazioni di sorta offrendo un quadro ottimale: “Sotto l’aspetto sanitario – continua Lucherelli – non ci sono state manifestazioni di nessuna patologia. Chiaramente stiamo lavorando affinché il rigoglio vegetativo non favorisca l’attecchimento di funghi. Defogliare ed arieggiare è un ottimo modo per combattere naturalmente le malattie”. Nello specifico, il Sangiovese, indipendentemente dai condizionamenti atmosferici, è in buone condizioni: “Sebbene il Sangiovese sia, tra i nostri vitigni, quello che ha risentito maggiormente delle condizioni climatiche, per ora la sanità delle uve e delle vite ci rendono ottimisti”. Non rimane dunque che attendere l’inizio della vendemmia per raccogliere i frutti del prezioso lavoro dei nostri soci viticoltori. Cantina Vicas: first forecast for the new vintage
Face to face with Sauro Lucherelli of Cantina Vicas, vineyard manager of the estate, who give us a punctual and precise examination on the evolution of the season
After a difficult vintage for all the italian wine industry, the Belpaese estates are ready to start again and face the new vintage at best. In particular, for the vine growers referring to Vicas winery the premises give good hope, as the agronomist Sauro Lucherelli underlines: “This year, thanks to the abundant rain in May, we won’t have drought problems for sure. The plants are in good conditions and there is a great canopy development that requested some interventions to contain it. From a production point of view, for the areas of Pontassieve, Valdarno and surroundings we can say we have a good yield, even if in the zones hit from mugginess and frosts there is a light reduction of the clusters’ size”.
Berry size apart, the health of the plants doesn’t raise concern, offering a perfect frame: “Under the sanitary aspect – continues Lucherelli – there hasn’t been any disease manifestation. Sure, we are working so that the vegetation luxuriance doesn’t facilitate fungi to take root. Defoliation and aeration is a very good way to fight naturally against diseases.” In particular, Sangiovese is in good conditions, independently from weather conditions: “Despite Sangiovese is one of the most affected by climate conditions among our varieties, the health of the grapes and the plants give good hope for the moment”. There’s nothing left to do but waiting the beginning of the harvest to pick the fruits of the precious work of our associate vine growers.
