La vendemmia 2016 all’azienda il Verro è stata indubbiamente complessa e ardua, e senza iperbole si può definire eroica. Infatti, la vendemmia delle uve bianche avvenuta nella prima decade di settembre, da cui si ricavano i due bianchi dell’azienda, il Verginiano con i suoi originali sentori di ginestra e menta e lo sheep con i suoi colori giallo paglierino, ha visto dimezzare la raccolta del 50%.
La colpa di questo pesante calo di resa è da imputare alle pessime condizioni metereologiche grandine compresa, che nei mesi primaverili hanno afflitto la zona del Monte Maggiore dove sono situate le vigne.Lo stesso calo di resa ha colpito le uve rosse da dove si ottiene il Lautonis con i suo sentori di frutta rossa, frutti di bosco e violetta e il pregiato Pallagrello nero dal colore rosso scuro e dalla discreta sapidità dei tannini.
L’azienda il Verro pone da sempre sua filosofia aziendale sulla riscoperta del patrimonio vitivinicolo autoctono. Infatti, oltre al riportare con sapienza e tenacia alla sua antica gloria il Pallagrello, un eccellente vitigno dalle indubbie qualità ampelografie; l’azienda ha iniziato un lavoro di valorizzazione dell’antico vitigno Coda di Pecora di cui attualmente è l’unica produttrice.
The heroic harvest of the winery Il Verro
The 2016 harvest at the winery Il Verro was undoubtedly complex and hard, and we can define it as heroic without being exaggerated. In fact, the harvest of the white grape varieties, which took place in the first decade of September and from which two white wines are produced, suffered a grape loss of 50%. The blame for this tragic loss was due to bad weather, which this year stroke in spots all around Italy. Inside the area of Monte Maggiore, where the vines of the winery are located, the hailstorms that occurred during the spring also made the things more difficult.
Despite this, all the wines still preserved their characteristics: the Sheep and the Verginiano result untouched for colour and perfumes, which recall the fruity and the floral. For the red wine Lautonis and the masterpiece wine Pallagrello Nero their typical freshness and balance are reconfirmed also this time.
The winery Il Verro always based its philosophy on the rediscovery of native grape varieties. In fact, not only it brought back the excellent grape variety Pallagrello demonstrating big witness and tenacity, but also started a process for the valorisation of the ancient grape variety Coda di Pecora, of which is actually the sole producer.
